[ATM] freezing SS

Ummm, forgot to mention that little problem! I use nuclear grade
anti-seize for some work.Though I'm not sure if it could work on this
application. One other shop tip I'd like to mention concerns bending SS.Like
phosphorous bronze,it has a grain or fiber. If you decide to do a 90 degree
bend it has to be square to the grain.I always mark the grain and shear or
cut out the part I want so that I can later bend the work square to the
grain.Does this make sense?And 1 other thing.Before drilling SS use a prick
punch with a pyramid point for hole location. This gives the drill a
purchase and keeps it from skidding off the mark.
For drilling very thin work, try this.Point locate the site on your drill
press, and clamp it.Then take a piece of hard wood scrap and clamp it over
the drill site.I use scraps of formica counter top as drill bases. And a
scrap piece of alum or hardwood over the part. The difference is a nice hole
with little burr, and the hole is round.Guess I ran my gator again!
blue skies for Florida,Ron
