Re: ATM 10" help - TDE?

Tyrone

FYI

When you swap the TOT and MOT, be aware that the time you
do TOT will be much longer than with the MOT. With TOT, you
are working the outer zones of the mirror with the center of the tool.

There is a LOT more area in the outer zones than in the center of
the blank. A 50/50 TOT/MOT exchange will not keep the ROC
the same as the center of the mirror works faster with MOT due to
the smaller area being worked.

For working the edge, Work TOT, stroke from the center of the
mirror taking the tool center almost to the edge and imagine that
you are pushing glass from the middle zones out to the edge of the
mirror. (Do not push the glass OVER THE EDGE!)

Return the tool to the center (without pressure), repeat the stroke
then rotate the tool and step sideways. Repeat the whole process
until you've made a couple trips around the mirror.

Clean and dry the mirror blank, set it on the tester and go have a
cold drink while the glass temp stabilizes.

Measure the surface and estimate the number of times you need to
repeat the above process and do HALF that number of sessions.

Test again and estimate the remaining sessions. If you do HALF
each time you will not overshoot the desired ROC. If you find the
glass getting ZONEY, you can do short sessions of COC and "W"
strokes to blend in the surface always remembering there is more
area at the edge and you will need to work longer there to maintain
or obtain the desired edge.
