RE: ATM Kydex in Australia

Here, here! Kydex is a solution that's gotten a lot of press - but it's
seldom mentioned that Kydex is a thermoplastic designed for thermo forming,
and as such is easily distorted by heat. It will probably deform over time
from being in the sun. There are other materials, such as ABS plastic, which
has most of the positive characteristics of Kydex without being as sensitive
to heat. Also, I've used black synthetic leather in the cage of my 20" scope
with excellent results. The fuzzy side faces in and is painted flat black
for a very non-reflective surface.

Kydex is only ONE solution. If it's not readily available or available
at too steep a price, use something else. Polititical advertisements
are printed on a foam cored, plastic coated material that works well.
Check with a local print shop for pieces. Use your imagination for
finding parts and pieces. There is NOTHING sacred about KYDEX... It
was readily available to the original designers and bought in
quantities so THEY didn't have a problem getting it. Doesn't mean that
it's the only thing to use.
