Figure out what will fit in your car, and will be tolerably easy to get in 
and out, and will be easy to build with the resources you have.  Then build 
it.  Telescope design should involve a big dose of practical concerns such 
as how you're going to build and transport it, beyond the technical 
telescope design concerns.  I used to carry around an 18" truss scope on the 
front seat of a compact car.  I used the clearances available around the 
seat and door frame as a starting set of design constraints -- the result 
was a large scope that was easy to transport.
