Re: ATM Jamming of concentric cylinders - Tapered edge lenses and tapered lens cells

A small screw is OK but I'm afraid of the idea of somebody trying to hold a
3" lens in with 1/4-20 screws which will be a bit stressful on the small
lens. Better would be to use a springloaded plunger setup to control the
movement but you have to remember that once you get the lens onto the scope
in an observatory, the lens isn't going to be going anywhere as you move it
about on the mount and thus, no real clamping is going to be needed.
Besides, when you have a lens, the "squaring on" of the lens is generally a
lot more forgiving than that of a mirror is and we allow the mirror to have
that kind of movement on our non-ahesive mounting systems in scopes.
