Maybe I am re-inventing the wheel. Why didn't the platform in the article
you mention become popular or well known? It is easy to see problems if the
curve was difficult to make, the dimensions were critical, or there was a
significant chronological limitation due to the mechanical arrangement.
Easy and non-critical are the characteristic goals for this curve. Either
way, old or new, there doesn't seem to be any commonly known widely
available info on this. The article you mention "rings a bell", so I'll
probably look for it tonight. I'll also ammend the sketch and work on
instructions for making the guide curve so that anyone can cut the required
shape with only a few minutes effort. There does seem to be quite a bit of
interest for a simple long duration barndoor camera platform.
