I like lots of tangents, too.  Also minimizes digging a highly localized
hole in the center with small tools.

But the magic I was actually asking about was some overall neutral stroke
that could be applied to an existing parabola for smoothing purposes,
without altering the shape of the parabola.  I'm skeptical, but I know
professionals who claim this is possible.  Any "overall" stroke I can think
of will surely take down the parabola, even ones that try to get tricky over
the 70% zone.
