Re: ATM Motorizing or not




In order to transport your motorized Dob in the car, you'll need 
a way to lift the alt and az bearing surfaces off of the metal bearings 
and rollers so they don't scratch the surface. Originally, I forced in 
Formica shims, but the first time one fell out, it galled the surface.

I cut up some C-Clamps and potted the screw sleeves in epoxy, with 
furniture glides epoxied to the ends that touch the trunnions and 
azimuth plate.

With the lifters engaged, the OTA rides on furniture glides 
extended 1/16" above the drive rollers. 

It's usable as a manual Dob as-is, but would be better If I had 
used Teflon pads.
