ATM PVC expansion-a solution?
To get around the problem of PVC tubing sagging, consider wrapping the tube
in a layer or two of epoxy saturated fiberglass. This will add minimally to
the weight, yet dramatically improve the stiffness. Conceivably (with a
little forethought) a PVC tube could be used only as a mold (configure it to
be disassembled from the inside), coated with a release agent, and a very
nice, stiff, lightweight fiberglass tube formed around it... as many as you
like.
