Re: ATM 2" hex ceramic tiles

To me it seems less desirable to use hex shaped tiles, as there are more
edges, and more edge surface to worry about. I've had to occassionally
file down an edge, and cleaning between grits seems like it's be tougher
than a good toothbrush scrubbin' down the row of tiles.... maybe I'm
ignorant of a better way.

Subject: ATM 2" hex ceramic tiles

I visited Intermountain Optics recently, and was told by the owner that 2"
hex ceramic tiles are no longer being manufactured. He purchased many,
many
cases to tide him over for a while.
He seemed loathe to switch to square tiles. He also uses the small round
tiles on occassion, but still prefers the hex.
Can anyone tell me why a hexagonal tile would be preferred to square, for
grinding? Is there a physical reason, or is this "personal prefferance"
territory?

Thanks

Chuck
