There's a short "washing machine >> grinding machine" article in the
"Advanced Telescope Making Techniques: Mechanical" volume of the two book
set derived from the newsletters of the old "Mak" snail mail group.  Wish I
could be more specific, I no longer have the book.  Willmann-Bell carries
it.

As I recall it simply describes how a washing machine motor and gearbox were
adapted to be parts of a smallish grinding machine.  Not many real details
were given.
