Hmm, there really weren't any pits that i could find with the loupe after
about 2 hours, there was just a very faint haze to the mirror when viewed with
the loupe at this point. maybe i need a stronger loupe. there are some bright
sparkles on the surface under the laser beam, but upon closer inspection with
the loupe, they all appear to be dust.
The laser dot is MUCH fainter on the mirror surface than on the objectives of
a decent pair of binoculars i looked at.

that's the other funny thing, it seems like the whole surface polished evenly,
i could see no differenence between the center and edge even after the 1st
hour. everything i've read says the polish will move either from the center to
the edge or edge to center depending which piece is on top.

I probably will do at least a couple more hours, to be sure, because 5 hours
seems very short, according to Tex and most of the anecdotes i've read here.
on the other hand, polishing with the unchannelled lap and thin Ceo pushing
the wets as far am is absolutely vicious. I hogged it out in one go, but i
can't keep up polishing like this for more than an hour at a time. Maybe i'm
pushing too hard? I guess I'll know for sure when i look at the figure. thanks
for the info.
