I wonder why you would consider standing up when using a telescope small
enough to use seated.

Nils,

Of course you're right for serious observing. But once again that demon
"special case" arises. I use my f8 8" from my back yard for quick "sky
cruises" through several objects, or at public star parties where the
process of sitting down, standing up, etc. would be challenging for the
elderly. Conversely, I find that making kids climb a short, lightweight
aluminum ladder is the quickest way to position them in the right spot. It
also enhances the drama of the event.

And my f8 can be used comfortably with an adjustable chair at all but zenith
elevations where the scope has to be rotated too fast for a chair anyway.

So there! ;^)
