After polishing for about an hour, I didn't see any "grayness" in
my mirror (8" f/6)--which probably means I don't know what I'm looking

I've been meaning to ask for a while--what is the
purpose/intended benefit of this practice? I see it mentioned often, but
I don't see much discussion of what good it's supposed to do. What
drawbacks are there, if any?
Also, about how long should I expect to polish with CeO? Tex's
book discusses only rouge, and CeO is supposed to polish much quicker
(right?).
