ATM Meade 4000 series Plossels

I just noticed that in March of 1994, Meade altered their 4000 series of
of "super Plossels" from a 5-element design (giving the "super"
designation) to a 4-element design. This was the same month that they
announced the 3000 series, which seems to be the same design internally
in a simpler cell. Sounds like just a plain "Plossel" or "symmetrical"
design to me ... but they retain the "super" in front of the 4000 series
Plossels.

I used to own a 26mm 5-element 4000 series, and it was a great
eyepiece. Has anyone had any experience with the old versus new 4000
series eyepieces? I don't see many of either the 3000 or 4000 series
for sale in the secondary sources (Telescope Warehouse, Teletrade,
Earth&Sky) so I'm presuming that they are attractive enough for people
to keep them.

Any comments, kudos or gripes??
