I cannot say that I saw cassini, but on a night with exceptionally
seeing two days ago, I clearly saw the shadow of the ring and the
planet respectively and Thetys and Dione at x300 with my 6" F7.1. I
could also clearly make out cloud belts in the atmosphere. All this
with the truly disastrous coating I have on my mirror.
Even with the little experience I aquired over the last 6 month
observing with my scope, it seems to me that the air around us limits
observations far more than a somewhat smaller aperture.
