This page offers a kit for digital setting circles, the MG III.  It 
describes theory behind operation, gives a parts list, and the 
author has available things like a printed circuit board, programmed 
EPROM, etc.  After that you need to get optical encoders, some 
resistors/capacitors, a few more chips, connecting hardware and a 
project box.

Any other kits out there?  Anybody had luck with the MG III?
