Eli Noam at Columbia has promoted exactly these ideas for years. It
seems though that asserions of the demise of traditional publishing
outlets are still regarded as "fringe" ideas by the big money.
I think the demise of books, etc. will be airly rapid once portable,
book quality resolution displays are economically available (sort of
like the old Apple Knowledge Navigator prototypes).
