I leave my scope (20" F5 dob) in the back yard.
It's (almost) completely made of aluminum.

Downside to this is that the mirror coatings take a beating.
(That's why I'm learning to silver my own mirrors)

I transport the scope inside my minivan.
(Wife has visions of me being impaled if the tube assembly moves
during an accident)
