They have 4 types of coatings ... straight Al, Al with some SiO layers,
Al with alternating SiO and TiO2, and Endurobright (dielectric) with
alternating SiO and TiO2 only.  The latter bonds to the glass, and so
must be polished off if you dislike it. With the Al underlayer, it is
easy to strip off the SiO and TiO2 layers.  Endurobright has I
understand gone through a change from its original formulation ...
basically the layer thickness has been changed to move its reflectance
from the yellow range to white.  You can actually see through these
mirrors, since the mirrors transmit light at the red and purple ends of
the spectrum.
