There's trichloroethylene (TCE), and (1,1,1) trichloroethane (TCA); the latter is (IMO) better stuff. Both are very good degreasers, they evaporate rapidly and leave no residue. However, TCE seems to have a stronger odor (though good ventilation is recommended for both), and it irritates the skin rather a lot more than TCA. It's also a bit more expensive, it seems. Also, TCE is supposedly known to the state of CA to be a carcinogen; I don't remember that TCA had that warning. I posted the other day that Brownell's carries TCA; I was wrong. They _used_ to, but now it's just TCE (though they do have it in gallon sizes still). TCE should also be available at well-stocked gun stores under the name of "Crud Cutter" for about $3/16 oz aerosol can. -- Dan Brown, KE6MKS, brownd@uchastings.edu Finger brownd@holmes.uchastings.edu for PGP 2.6.2 Public Key "When you have no basis for an argument, abuse the plaintiff." -- Cicero
