ATM Tele Drive Inverter Problems

Hi folks!

We'll, I've got a new subject to deal with. A week or so I bought a
heavy duty equitorial mount with a drive system consisting of an
inverter/drive corrector powered by 12v (car battery), which inverts to
110 for the synchronus motor on the drive. The circuits are from WB
(Saxon Drive Corrector Board).

Everything worked fine when I picked it up. Unfortunately, I decided to
try to power it with my battery charger (Too much current?), and now it
dosn't work at all. Inside is a burnt spot on a circuit board under an
un marked part.

If any of you kind folks has some time (via e-mail) to help me figure
out what happened and how to fix it (the guy I bought it from isn't a
electronic guru, but is looking into it) I could really use some help.

TIA 8+)

P.S. I do have a volt/ohm meter, and have a somewhat basic
understanding of electronics.
