(ATM) Bino destruction

Why destroy the binoculars?  I've simply cut them into two monoculars
and used them as is.  You need to machine a few bits so that their
focusing mechanisms still work - usually the eyepiece diopter adjustment
on one side, and the barrel adjustment for the other.  But then you
have two finders with the added advantage of right-way-round images
(it takes some getting used to, but it works fine).  The prisms do add
some weight, but the rest is usually made very light weight.
