        Why douldn't one take a threaded rod (cut off bolt head) drill in 
the center and braze the piano wire into it. Or drill cross ways thread 
the piano wire through and twist in a fashion as safety wire (more 
difficult to do).
        My concern is there should be some rigidity along the axis of the 
tube to increase vibration frequency. I suspect you'd use two for each 
vand replacement and the furtherapart they are the stiffer the structure 
would seem. I've seen bicycle spokes and a wheel hub used this way and it 
worked well.
