I met Crockett about six years ago when he popped up in the SDAA
telescope making class that Gene Larr and I were conducting at
the CSUSM college and, after a few appearances, procedded to call
himself a co-instructor of the class.  Both Gene and myself were
rather incensed to say the least.  I understand that Gene had a
talk with him and basically booted him out.  I also had a talk
with him and told him that he wasn't a instructor of any kind
there and if ye wanted to gain such a title, to go get the SDAA
to make him such.  To my knowledge, he has never talked to either
the board of the SDAA ro the person who is in charge of the class
about becoming such.
A to his 22" telescope, I've been out to his place when he was
living with his parents (according to him_ and the largest I saw
of telescopes was a Cave telescope which he didn't bring out.
Needless to say, he's also ticked off a bunch of guys on another
local group by making nasty comments , the name of the group
escapes me at the momnent but is mostly made up of local
telescope users.
In addition, he really needs to find out facts before he spouts
off his mouth, something which he regularly fails to do.
I'll also note that I've also gotten a Merit Award from RTMC in
'98 for the refractor.  Richard Berry made an annoucenmtent of
about fifteen minutes before awarding me the award which is
rather long for the giving of a mere Merit Award  Then again,
Crockett didn't hear that as he had been banned (again by his own
words_ back in the '80s for some stupidity that he did up there.
Needless to say, he doesn't like me and I don't care.
