I've had the pleasure of being humbled by one of quite enormous dimension.  I was not trained to operate it though.

I searched the archive and it looks like I made my wood and pulley home brew generator in '99.  There are pictures somewhere.  I took it apart and reclaimed the space and hand tools that powered it after it had done it's job.  It generated a ten inch twice (I was practicing) and the 16. There's still no mark II generator, but it progresses.  I'm two set screws closer to finishing it just today.

It is pretty simple, just not obvious.  I had to have it explained. It was one of those, oh I get it, moments.

Martin Cibulski design doesn't work exactly like a true generator, to do that he would have had to remove the shroud and lower the angle considerably, but I really like the way he hacked it together.  Wish I'd thought of an angle grinder.
