A grinder on a swing arm is not a good way to generate a curve.  A generator based on the tried and true design, a grinding cup or disk held and spun almost flat against the blank (the slight angle determines the ROC) while the blank revolves on a turn table beneath is, I dare say, better.  It's compact, its relatively safe and it can cut concave and convex (when used with a cup) surfaces.  Something a pendulum can't do.
