I don't keep tabs on the consumer cxameras so I really don't know
what is even available.
I'd tend to stay away from those type cameras unless I'm going to
be pulling them apart to get the lens assy off of them and it
would be bad if I did so and found that the array itself had the
IR filter on it. In addition is that the consumer cameras
already have filters on them which reduce the pixells of red,
green and blue to produce the color that all of those type
cameras have and I'd rather not have color unless I wish it to be
so and I'll do that with my own filters.
The thing aout single pixel sensors is that they can't collect
the light and compare it to another source nearby, it means that
you have to do that as a seperate operation. With a CCD array,
you can insure that a steady source nearvy to the source being
investigated can be compared with the same exposure.
