Re: [ATM] Figuring questions on a 6f6.
Ok Anthony
Alright I understand it all now.
It looks as if your tester is a slit-less tester or other type that has the
source move with the knife.
I would mention that I think this last time you refer to zone 0, 1, and 2
but previously 1, 2, and 3. I like 1, 2 and 3.
You can see that you have significant overcorrection. It didn't take you
long to get it that way and it shouldn't take you long to get it back on the
other side of the parabola.
Either TOT or MOT 1/3D narrow W should work well. I think your zone 2 to 3
increase is because the hole you dug was spreading out with the 1/3 COC
strokes. I think if you continue it will spread more and the numbers will
start going down. If that doesn't work you know that whatever you were doing
when you were polishing produced negative numbers. You could do that. That
was probably the 1/3 COC.
After you get back on the other side of the parabola and start parabolizing
again, shorten your work sessions. Ten minutes did about 5 times the work
you wanted. Do less work in each session. If ten minutes does too much go
down to 2 or 3 minute sessions. It might be better to count trips around the
barrel and since it only takes a little work just do one time around and
then test. Stroke slow, slow and smooth. Remember that your first
parabolizing session worked the center too fast. The next time reduce the
number of strokes on the sides of the W and put more stokes near the center
of the W. That should slow the center and speed the outer zone correction.

Hi Jerry and all,
Sorry, I should have included more background information.
1) I'm working in inches.
2) My source and knife edge move together ("Moving" in FigureXP).
3) Here is my mask configuration from Mark D. Holm's Couder Mask
software.
Main mask zones
Zone R inner R outer R center Rcenter
Method
0 0.915 1.886 1.442 Carlin
1 1.886 2.506 2.207 Carlin
2 2.506 3.000 2.758 Carlin
The secondary is 1.83 inches.
4) It looks like the decimal place is off on my Ideal Knife Edge numbers
below. Here are the corrected values:
1) 0.000
2) 0.019
3) 0.038
Thanks for looking at this stuff.
-Anthony
