Re: [ATM] figure stroke ten inch
First the corrections to my last post.
I made a couple of typos that I'm sure don't help the understanding of what
I was trying to say...
In the table of Latest session results, That 75% from zones 2 to 3 should
have been 1/4 more than the previous session results, as corrected below.
And the third paragraph should have said wear zone 4 to increase the 37%.
You might have figured out my mistake when I mention zone 2, 3 and 4 later.
My apologies for whatever confusion that caused.
The corrected version of that paragraph is below the corrected table.

If you wear the wall of the crater, zone 2, you would reduce the 127% from
zone 1 to 2 to a smaller percentage. If you wear zone 4 you will make the
37% from zone 4 to zone 5 larger. If you do both by wearing zone 2 and 4 you
would kill two birds with one stone. But then that other bird, the 96% which
is mighty close to 100%, would get away and you already have that one in the
bag. So don't change that one. Wear zone 2, 3 and 4. TOT accented pressure
about 2 pounds on the edge of the lap stroking a W as per Texereau across
the zones you want to wear. Two times around the barrel would probably be
enough to see if that takes you in the right direction. Three times around
might do better but could be too much. Don't do three without testing in
between. A little too much may be much worse than no work at all.
What Jim Burrows says is right. You could be done. Since I can get those
percentages all very close to 100% I don't usually run the numbers out to
see how good the mirror is until I get all the percentages from zone to zone
as close as I can. When offering advice I will sometimes offer up how to
improve them without stopping to think they may be close enough. If you ask
how to correct the edge I will tell you a way of doing that. I might
occasionally check to see how good the mirror is but not always.
I have a firm grasp of how close I can get the knife reading to the desired
numbers with reasonable effort. Except for typos my advice would be a valid
way (I hope) to improve the mirror, but that does not necessarily mean that
I think you should try. I might tell you what I would do right up to the
point that I would be scared put the lap to mirror again. That does not mean
you should do it. You decide how close you can get, or how close you want to
try to get, and what advice you take. Be warned! I don't think anyone has
used my advice by email to improve their mirrors.
Hopefully Jim or someone else will be watching and wave the checkered flag
when you cross the finish line.
So.. What have you done? Is it finished, or are you on your way back to a
sphere?
Jerry
