In my book, fused silica is 'almost' mana from Heaven.
If you do search on the archives you will probably
find out all kinds of info on it.  Works slow,
especially by hand, but thermally much more stable
than Pyrex, and with the proper polishing compounds, a
wonderful finish. If you decide to pass on the price,
I am sure  many of us here would love to grab it.
