Mitch,  This also a VERY good idea anytime you have your telescope on
public display during daylight hours (i.e. Astronomy Day).  Some
neanderthals seem to think that a telescope tube or a mirror box looks
like a basketball goal or a garbage can and "shoot" their trash into
them.  Paper... no problem, aluminum can.....ouch!!!  Oh, mustard and
mayo can stain some coatings too.

And yes, this happened down here several years ago, which is why no one
wants to put their telescopes on display in the malls anymore.
