Re: [ATM] Mirror dust cover

<< Mirror dust covers are a must. These "cap's" not only protect

nightmare) >>

Russ brings up a good point. After one such incident, a friend started
using nylon nuts and fasteners on the parts that have a tendency to
loosen and shed themshelves onto our precious optics. They are readily
available at model airplane hobby shops, and even some of the big box
hardware emporiums. And they are always available from the online
catalog houses. Small Parts in Florida has a whole line in both white
nylon and black. (add std disclaimer).

White nylon can be changed into "black" with a process that was on the
list a few years ago. I tried it and it worked. If anyone remembers
it, they might send along the URL.

An additional advantage is that the nylon has a reduced tendency to
loosen under vibration and regular use. A disadvantage is that it might
crack in really cold climes.........so George Anderson in Icebox Falls,
Canada can ignore this note! <G>
