Re: [ATM] Foucault and interferometry comparison
Dale, this is amazing. I personally find this very interesting. The
simulation appears very accurate to me. Sometime I need to learn about
interferometry testing.
Keep up the work.

Subject: [ATM] Foucault and interferometry comparison
I was busy this summer analyzing a mirror the Mike
Peck loaned me. I had requested a mirror with a
surface the showed roughness in a Foucault image. I
used a Bath Interferometer as I have described before
to analyze the surface in high resolution. Next I
simulated a Foucault image from the analysis. You can
see the results here.

I find it interesting to see what bumps and
depressions in the 3d image in the lower left cause
shadows in the Foucault. Red in the 3d is high blue
is low areas.
