[ATM] ground ring diameter vs. mirror diameter

Howdy,
Those of you who have created a scope with a ground
ring and flex rocker...can you comment on the ratio of
ground ring to mirror size?

I'm redesigning my 16" to motorize it and am a bit
overwhelmed by the size of the ground ring I need! 35
inches OD!? I'm enlarging my mirror box to accomodate
internal truss clamps and easy access collimation
knobs above the mirror. I can't seem to reduce the
diameter any farther without the mirror box colliding
with the ring. Maybe I'm missing something?

Sure would like to hear what others have settled in
on.
