A mirror cell is designed to support the mirror under
the force of gravity. A minimum of supports is chosen
so that the mirror does not deform under that gravity
load. If you increase the force by placing a lap on
top of the mirror then the mirror will deform more
than it was designed for. You will need more support
points. Try using PLOP and double the denisity of
your mirror to see how the cell performs. Doubling
the density will be a good approximation of the extra
weight the lap and polishing may add.
