Re: [ATM] SUN FILTERS
Don,
Since your Baader filter is just your Thousand Oaks filter w/ a film
replacement, what do you suppose accounts for the difference in image
quality?
I made myself a full-aperture filter for my 150mm Newt using Thousand
Oaks film -- no glass. It has worked well, and I've never had any
trouble with pinholes etc. My imaging "system" is very
unsophisticated -- just a webcam with an adapter. I get solar images
as sharp as my lunar ones, if you take into account that I've never
had great seeing during the day.
I've just ordered half a square metre of Baader film to make filters
for a few other scopes. What difference can I expect other than the
colour? I'm thinking now that if I have any left over Baader film
I'll make a 2nd 150mm filter so I can do the direct comparison
routine.
Cheers,
