Re: [ATM] SUN FILTERS
Thanks to all who who replied to my querie about Sun filters.
Baadar seems to be the popular choice and my good old servival blanket got
the thumbs down. Oh well......It may have saved the entire population of
Rotorua from one eye blindness :-). Problem is, I have three, may be four
homemade scopes of various shapes and sizes that I would like to shield. but
I don't want to go to too much trouble for something that I will have no
further use for. I doubt that I will see the next transit.
Our local Astro Soc. has a celestron C8 with a good commercial filter and I
think one or two members may have them too. I have been experimenting with a
webcam that I modified to fit in the focuser tube and show the image on a
laptop or Tv screen. Trouble is you can't see the screen in bright daylight.
I think my best plan will be to follow Michael linders suggestion and use
his projection method. It looks like a good foolproof method and I like
fact that a group can view together.
Again many thanks everyone.
Malcolm Macdonald.
