And this is my point in a nutshell.  They are NOT mutually exclusive.  I 
did not understand it for a long time myself because of my loathing of 
arithmetic.  (Well subtraction and division. ;) )  If you can think in 
math, you can imagine in math.  Some do have that capability.  Some don't.
