[ATM] Foucault test camera recommendations

Hi,
I have set up to do Foucault on a homebrew tester and had planned on using a
Pentax 8x30 monocular to magnify then capture with a Canon digital point and
shoot camera. All are mounted on a standard rail and move with the slitless
knife edge. Results so far appear like this for and 8"f/6

Magnification is too much I know. I had no idea the pechan prism in the
monocular would cause the line across the middle of the image and the
graticule is annoying. It will probably just be replaced with a small
30mmf/3 coated achromat and 25mm eyepiece I have available.
My question is what camera would be best to do this with, ie. webcam, video,
digital (apart from some full blown digital SLR)? The Canon has no control
over f/no or exposure time so I can't be guaranteed I'll get consistant
results.
Thanks for your advice, Phil.
