Re: [ATM] Venting Holes in a solid OTA

Hi Jack,

yes, I liked the holes,in fact as a side-benifit, I found that they
allowed "faster-cooling" of the optics, normally I had to wait about
2-hours or more for this particular scope[a 10-incher] to "cool-down",
but after the holes were-cut, I found that only 30-minutes to 1-hour
was needed!,,it was a nice bonus!
of course there's been alot of nice advances since my hey-day
of atm'ing,[still doing-it of course!!,,he,he].
But theres still room for more Improvements and advancements,,
in Optics and Mountings for atm'ers ,,and Im sure we will see them,
and Im sure this List will be the first to get "First-glimpses" of those
advances,[because they will probably come from US!!],,
The future of atming is "Bright!"

Heres my "Telscope and Optics sight" w/pictures of some of my scopes
and Optics;

John,
After dozens of well appreciated replies, you are the first to give hands-on
experience!

I'm the guy with the original post.

Did you like the holes? I don't think I'm going to use them now, in favor of
a single fan on the back of the sealed OTA suspended by rubber bands blowing
OUT.

Hilariously,
Jack

I must have missed something about 20-replies back?, how does a "Ionic
breeze" ty-in with a "hole in a OTA",,, maybee im getting slow in my old
age,,,,, whomever had the "drilling a hole in a solid OTA",, I wish him the
best!, and the guy with the "Ionic breeze", I hope his pitch doesnt
dissolve,,,,

I did cut some Large holes in 10-inch OTA, back in the 70's ounce,, used a
jig-saw,, cut-out 4-large strips about 3-inches wide,, didnt save much
weight, but gave the tube kinduv,,its own personallity,,sort-ov a "caveman"
version of a "modern-day truss",, was a fun experiment.

This wasnt my-discussion,,so,,Ill apologize, and bow-out,,and say good-Luck!

John Moore.
