The trick with making a tube out of wood is to first take some
1x2 stock and cut the angles you want and try the pieces
together. If the pieces wrack about, you've got the wrong angles
so go back and try a slightly different angle and continue to do
so until you cut the exact angle that makes all of the joints
exactly square. At that point, you don't want to use the saw for
anything else until all of that angle is cut. If you do the cuts
right, you get perfect joints every time.
When you get done and want to have the blade vertical again, just
cut a piece of wood, flip one side and see if the joint is
crowned or valleyed and adjust as needed so that the joint is
flat.
