Re: [ATM] Coulter Vs GSO mirrors

The price for the Coulter seems a bit high. Full Oddyssey 1 scopes can be
had on Astromart for $300-$600 dollars and these come ready to observe, with
Telrads, secondaries, salvageable parts for other ATM projects, finders etc.
I know because I got a wonderful blue Oddyssey for $300 with a mirror that
passed star tests and I love using that scope.

Thanks folks for all the replies. I guess you can get specs on the GSO
mirror when it is sold to you. The chap who is selling the
Coulter mirror, I'm not sure if he is able to test the mirror. But I will
inquire.

Overall I get the impression that it is probably more hit and miss with the
Coulter mirror than the relatively consistant GSO mirror. I can pick up a
brand new GSO mirror for AUS699.00 where as this chap is selling the Coulter
for AUS750.00 which does include a secondary. What do you think would be a
fair offer for this mirror, This is how he describes it...

"Was protected under 3M strippable film for many years. Surface could do
with a wash but certainly still usable for a while. No marks, scratches,
chips etc. Secondary is still as new."

I kinda get a gut feeling I would probably do a lil better/safer if
I went with a GSO. Maybe not by much but then it could be a heap... yikes!
