Boy, I'd sure like to see this baby put to bed for all eternity. For my
money, I say there are great telescope makers out there, and great mirror
makers... but those who do both equally well are few and far in between. That's just
an opinion, but at any rate, there's never a need to apologize for buying a
mirror, or having a great telescope made to house an epic optic.
I'm a telescope maker, and although I'd love to be able to say I'm a glass
pusher too, I cannot. But I will say that I can make a sweeter performing
telescopic instrument (of the large-aperture, truss-style Dobsonian persuasion)
than most anyone. And that I'd really love to see more telescope makers
participate on this list, too.
Your question is impossible to answer, since nobody can tell the figure on
either glass in question. The closest anyone can come to an intelligent reply
without knowing anything more is to say to have your candidates tested, if
possible.
