My little trick to getting the mirror in and out without losing
alignment is to put three blocks inside the tube that the mirror
cell attaches to with screws that go up the tube rather than
across the tube.  This gives the 3 index points that are needed
to put the mirror cell back in without losing the position of the
mirror.  You also want to make the 3 holes not exactly 120
degrees apart (this is another place where sloppy work works
better) so that the cell only goes in one way.
For keeping the mirror clean, storing it with end caps is also
very desirable.  I like making end caps from vinyl  covered cloth
while watching the idiot box, hand sewing the stuff with a a
sewing awl needle.
