Re: [ATM] Iron tools

I have had good luck using epoxy and washers. Deep hogging will eat up
the grinding surface quick. I suppose you could use chunks of plate iron
epoxied to the concrete as opposed to premade iron pieces, washers etc.'

A true iron tool is a chore to make but will last quite a long time. It
usually has a good start towards the final curve and so is created using a
machining or casting process.

You can deep hog a blank using an iron ring, as the ring is a section of
the sphere you are trying for. Something about 1/3 diameter has worked
for me. An iron pipe cap, or a short piece of ductal iron pipe.

Lastly, I have used an old grind stone to hog. I found some at the dump a
few years ago and the pit man let me take a few home. I lay them on the
glass and pour 80 grit into the center hole, add water and go.
