[ATM] TriDob endring
Hey Mel,
I was just thinking about endrings and wondering why
you shifted from a circle to a triangle in your latest
version of the 20" scope--the tridob. Is it because of
the compression forces (inward on the triangle) of the
wire spider? Does the gemometry of the triangle give
you more stability? I'm rethinking mine for a future
rebuild and will need to either modify or recreate the
endring. My painter's pole truss attachments are just
not rigid enough and I haven't been able to figure out
how to toughen them up. They work, but collimation can
be tricky if someone manhandles the endring or OTA.
Judging by how easy it is to route a circular endring,
I'm just wondering what advantages the triangular
version possesses? Is it particularly lighter than the
circular equivalent?
Thanks!
Dave
