The process described is the correct one. The only missing part
is that the width can be seen easily as oyu rotate the guides and
can be calculated by the simple geometry of the scheme. Sag
calculations will give you the width of the cut needed and thus
the angle needed to do the job.
Don't forget to make a holder for the piece of wood so that you
don't get your fingers near the blade. Pusher sticks tend to be
a bit flimsy for this work oss make a big holder that will hold
the piece of wood good and solidly. Also, don't cut the wood to
length until after you have the right radius or the short length
will kick out and be nasty to you. A longer piece of wood that
can easily span the whole blade area is better for handling.
I've done coving to a specified radius and it works well.
