Two suggestions that I've used successfully:

1. draw curves on two vertical descending pieces of wood from the
focuser base, using the tube's rim as a template.  Cut with jigsaw.

2. keep the focuser base and use wood dowels as spacers between the base
and the curved tube.  All that remains is to determine where to drill
holes for mounting bolts (8x32 are fine)
