You are probably speaking about Richards
ribbed mirrors. If normal slumped blank
(that is without ribs) will be so sensitive to
temperature gradients that will surely mean that
it has lot of residual "frozen" stress in it.
Richard knows enough about annealing and is
checking his blanks. So it is very likely that
what you are talking about does not apply to
non ribbed slumped blanks.
